This policy applies to all information received by Maine Audubon, both online and offline, on any platform (“Platform”, includes the Maine Audubon website, mobile applications, and social media), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.

What information does Maine Audubon collect?

We utilize Google Analytics, which records details about various aspects of user visits to our website (such as user city, web browser, device, etc.), in order to learn more about how users interact with our site and improve the user experience. We do not use it to collect personally identifiable information (PII).

You may choose to provide us with personal information (such as name, address, e-mail, telephone numbers and/or credit/debit card information) in order to receive e-mail newsletters, request further information, or make a donation. This information is used only to fulfill your request. We may use your contact information to send further information about our organization or to contact you when necessary.

How does Maine Audubon protect this information?

Maine Audubon may use your information to process and respond to inquiries and for the purposes for which you provided the information, such as to process donations, register or renew you as a member, or send you information about a project.

Credit card information entered into forms on our website is handled by Blackbaud; that company’s PCI-compliance practices are outlined on the Blackbaud website. Credit card information entered into registration forms on our events platform are handled by TicketSpice; that company’s security and PCI-compliance practices are outlined on the TicketSpice website.

Maine Audubon will not sell, trade, or share personal information about our donors or members with anyone else, nor will we send mailings to our donors or members on behalf of other organizations, unless a donor has given us specific permission to do so.

How accessible is your website?

This website is designed to be 508-compliant. We make a concerted effort to always use alt-text on our images and clear language in our hyperlinks to aid users with screen readers, and to include captions on videos. Can I opt out or change my contact information?

You can always choose to opt-out of receiving communications from us. For email, just click the “Unsubscribe” link in the footer of every message. You may also contact our Development team via email at member@maineaudubon.org and update your contact information or opt out of future communications.

Can I use one of your images or other content?

If you would like to use or publish information that you find on our web site, please send your request to media@maineaudubon.org. Images on our website are original and property of Maine Audubon except where otherwise noted.

We frequently photograph and record Maine Audubon events, camps, and other programs. In the case of public programs, we do so without obtaining the permission of attendees. Participants in Maine Audubon trips and other activities sign a release waiver that includes permission to use photographs and video in marketing materials. In the case of children’s programs and camps, we explicitly obtain media releases from parents/guardians.
