Adult Programs

Our Staff Naturalist and other staff oversee a robust array of seasonal walks, talks, and trips designed for the diverse interests and schedules of adults.

Programs range from introductory lectures and discussions to immersive field workshops focused on enhancing specific skills or finding target species.

Guided walks: Gilsland Farm (Falmouth/Greater Portland) hosts weekly bird walks on Thursday mornings year-round, Scarborough Marsh offers weekly bird walks on Wednesday mornings during the summer, and Fields Pond (Holden/Greater Bangor) offers seasonal nature walks.  Additionally, Maine Audubon staff, partners, and volunteers lead native plant walks, edible plant walks, and a variety of other topical themes.

Classes & Workshops: Our popular online Birding Basics workshop series introduces birders of all abilities to the best and latest resources and tools. Other talks offer tune-ups ahead of our trips, community science training, and stewardship and educator workshops.

Talks:  We host talks in person at Gilsland Farm and Fields Pond, as well as online and hybrid! Our speakers range from biologists to horticulturists, from authors to policy makers, foresters to educators.

Trips: Our renowned boat trips include annual favorites such as trips to visit famed nesting seabird colonies on Matinicus Rock, Eastern Egg Rock, and Stratton Island. Our Fall Pelagic trip has become a destination trip for serious birders seeking species endemic to the open ocean. We also lead van trips and other wildlife-focused adventures statewide.

Presentations: Maine Audubon staff can come to your organization, company, or function and deliver informative presentations on a variety of topics. Get the State of Maine Birds, Birding Basics, Planting Native Plants, Winter Wildlife Survival and other topics, delivered to your door!
