Please join Maine Audubon and the Environmental Priorities Coalition at the Maine State House in Augusta on April 23 for Conservation Lobby Day 2019!
Each year, we gather for this special day in Augusta, discussing pressing issues, learning some effective techniques for talking to our legislators — and then hitting the halls to do some real lobbying for Maine’s environment.
This year, on Tuesday, April 23, our focus will be on bills related to expanding renewable energy, taking bold action on climate, protecting clean water and wildlife habitat, and phasing out harmful plastics.
After the lobbying we’ll gather outside the State House for a Youth Climate Rally (adult allies welcome, of course).
We’ll send a full schedule to everyone who signs up closer to the day, but briefly: We’ll get started at 8:30 am in the Cross Cafe (across from the State House), where you’ll be briefed on the issues and learn lobbying tips. Then we’ll walk to the State House to speak to our legislators. We’ll wrap up around 11:30 with the Youth Climate Rally!
You can either meet us in Augusta, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll try to help you work out a carpool.
This is a great opportunity to learn how to effectively lobby your legislators, and — more importantly — to advocate on behalf of bills that protect Maine people, wildlife, and habitat.
I hope you can join us!
