Furnish your “Sustainable Home” with the Nature Store

Hello again! In my last post, I gave a preview of the “Sustainable Home” section we have been putting together in the Nature Store at Gilsland Farm. Well, it’s here!

Curated by Maine Audubon staff, this new section is designed to help us all make more environmentally-responsible, sustainable consumer choices. All of the products are sourced as locally as possible, and have sustainable (or zero) packaging.

From individual plastic packaging, to microplastics in our face wash, to chemicals in our cleaning products, the things we buy often have adverse effects on the wildlife and habitats we love. As consumers, we deserve to know what’s in our products, where they’ve come from, how best to use them, and how to properly dispose of them. That’s exactly where the new “Sustainable Home” section of the Maine Audubon Nature Store comes in.

It’s a wide selection — from natural deodorant and lip balm, to wool dryer balls and plastic-free lunch boxes! There’s even stuff for kids, like all-natural playdough and crayons, and toddler clothing made in a zero-waste facility.

Be sure to stop in and check out these great new products!
