Action Alert: Time to move Maine’s solar policy forward

Please contact your legislator today and encourage them to support LD 1444, a bill that would move solar policy forward in Maine.

Earlier today, the Senate voted overwhelmingly in support of LD 1444. Now it’s on to the House! Please contact your House member today. (Consider also contacting your Senator and, if they were supportive, sharing your thanks — you can find the roll call here).

The LePage administration and big utilities continue to muddle the facts about this important bill. We need your help communicating to the legislature that this bill addresses very specific aspects of solar policy. Namely, LD 1444:

  • Raises the number of people that can take part in a community solar project from 9 to 50.
  • Undoes a rule that allows utilities to bill solar producers for the energy they produce and use on site.
  • Prevents the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) from modifying its solar rules until the Legislature can address the topic fully next session.

As a constituent, you are best poised to positively influence how your legislators vote on LD 1444. Please take two minutes to write or call your legislators. Encourage them to work toward a clean and sustainable energy future for Maine by supporting LD 1444.

Thank you!
