Upcoming Programs and Events:
Photography Gone Wild Wednesday, May 21, 7:00 pm Presentation by Jym St. Pierre UMF Roberts (Room C23)
Maine has been a Mecca for outdoor photography since the 19th century. Photography Gone Wild, a Powerpoint program presented by Jym St. Pierre, touches on the history of landscape photography in Maine and good places to take nature photos. However, the majority of the illustrated talk features work by contemporary photographers, who are doing a stunning array of landscape and wildlife photography in Maine.
Jym St. Pierre is a Maine native with BA and MPS degrees from the University of Maine. His photos have appeared in dozens of publications, including People, Patagonia, On Wilderness, National Geographic (nationalgeographic.com), Sierra Club Planet, Orion Afield, Explore New England, and North Woods Vision. He has won awards for his landscape and wildlife photography at the All Maine Photography Competitions, State of Maine Sportsman‘s Show, and New England Camera Council. He has led photo workshops both on the Maine coast and in the capital region. In 2005, one of Jym’s photos was published as a poster for a statewide conference celebrating the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. In 2006, he had a two-person show at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell featuring his Maine Landsc[r]apes series.
Jym was president of the Capital Area Camera Club from 2004 to 2006. He was also founding president of the Kennebec Land Trust, founding chair of Citizens to Protect the Allagash, and a founding director of the Maine League of Conservation Voters. Since 1995, he has been Maine Director of RESTORE: The North Woods, a regional conservation organization. Field Trips
