Maine Audubon Names Board Officers
At a recent meeting of the executive committee of the 2005-06 Maine Audubon Board of Trustees, the committee confirmed the board’s slate of officers for a one-year term. Jeffrey Norris is president. A graduate of Bowdoin College, Norris has lived in Greenville and Dover-Foxcroft and now resides in Portland with his wife Laura Newman and two sons. He is a partner in Portland-based Me3 Technology Consultants. An avid canoeist, hiker and volunteer for conservation groups, Norris and his brother Bo Norris have developed outdoor recreation businesses. He also has taught technology seminars at the University of Maine in Orono. Beth Ahearn is vice president. A former staff attorney for Maine Audubon and cochair of the board’s conservation committee, Ahearn lives in Freeport with her husband Chris O’Neil and two daughters. Kenneth S. Spirer is treasurer. He lives in Portland with his wife Joan Leitzer, M.D., and has three grown children. Spirer is formerly a lawyer with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., and a first vice president and assistant general counsel with Merrill Lynch in New York. He is vice chairman of the board of the Maine Community Foundation, a founding board member of Common Good Ventures and a board member and past president of the LARK Society for Chamber Music. Karen Herold is secretary. A graduate of Yale College and the University of Chicago Law School, Herold lives in Cumberland with her husband Mark Isaacson and their four children. She serves on Maine Audubon’s conservation committee and also has served recently as a school-board member for MSAD 51.

With a 160-year history, Maine Audubon today is affiliated with Audubon’s national organization and has seven local chapters in the state.
