More Than Two Dozen Maine Businesses, Organizations, Individuals Donate to Statewide Event to Benefit Wildlife Conservation

FALMOUTH, February 17, 2005

More than two dozen Maine businesses, organizations and individuals have donated prizes to a statewide raffle to benefit wildlife conservation in Maine.

Organized by Maine Audubon, the state’s largest wildlife conservation organization, the raffle includes prizes such as Ski Maine and Sunday River ski packages; stays at the Black Point Inn in Scarborough, Sugarloaf and Bethel Inn & Country Club; wildlife boat cruises led by Registered Maine Guides and Audubon naturalists; outdoors equipment including an Old Town kayak donated by L.L.Bean and a Trek mountain bike donated by Cyclemania; and a variety of retail and restaurant products and certificates.

“Businesses that donate to the raffle show they value Maine’s great natural heritage,” said Ginger Jones, development director for Maine Audubon. “We’re very grateful to them for supporting Maine Audubon’s statewide work for wildlife conservation.”

Maine Audubon raffle tickets and a full description of prizes are available by calling (207) 781-2330. Click here for prize descriptions and additional information.

Individual raffle tickets are $6 each; a book of six tickets is $30. Maine Audubon must receive entries and payment by Tuesday, April 19, 2005.

Winners will be drawn on Saturday, April 23 at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth. Winners need not be present at the drawing to win.

Last year’s Maine Audubon raffle helped raise $25,000 for Maine Audubon initiatives including educating Maine youth about wildlife and nature, monitoring and protecting endangered species, and helping shape science-based wildlife policy.
