Registration
Information
Reservations
Reservations are necessary for all trips.
Because trips are generally limited to small groups, and many trips
fill up well in advance, we recommend you make your reservation
as early as possible.
You can reserve by telephone, in writing or in person. For the
fastest registration, call
or email our registrar.
Be sure to give us your mailing address, email address, and phone
number so that we
may contact you to confirm your reservation.
Full payment (or payment of indicated deposit) is necessary upon
registration. You can pay with a personal check or money order made
payable to Maine Audubon or with your Visa, Mastercard,
or Discover
card. You may also stop by our office to pay in cash. * Please, do
not send credit card information to us by email and do not send
cash by mail.
Before your trip begins, you’ll receive a letter of directions
to the meeting departure location, plus other details as to what
to bring with you. Remember to check with our helpful Nature Store
staff
for recommendations on field guides, optics, and more. You’ll
also get a trip evaluation form, so you can tell us how we’re
doing.
Keep
In Touch / Trip Hotline
If you're uncertain about the status of your trip, call the Maine Audubon
field trips hotline at 207-781-6180: when the greeting message plays,
press 2, then when the second recording plays, press 1 for the most
current message. See also cancellations
/ refunds.
Waiting
Lists
If the trip you want to take is full, we can place your name on a waiting list.
If an opening occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible. Please help
us by providing your telephone numbers and email address.
Cancellations
/ Refunds
Maine Audubon reserves the right to cancel any trip at any time
and refund payments.
Day Trips
- If you must cancel your reservation, you must do so at least
seven days before the trip date.
- Payment will be refunded minus a $10 processing fee. If the
trip cost is less than $10, your cancelled fee will automatically
be
donated to Maine Audubon education programs.
- If you cancel your
reservation later than seven days before the trip, or fail
to participate in your reserved trip, no refund
is possible.
Overnight Trips
- If you cancel your reservation at least three weeks before
the trip and another participant fills your space, we will refund
your payment
minus a $25 processing fee.
- If we cannot fill your space, a refund
will be made minus any unrecoverable expenses and the processing fee.
Bad Weather
- Unusually severe weather conditions can force the cancellation of
a trip. The boat captain decides boat trip cancellations. In addition,
Maine Audubon reserves the right to cancel any trip at any time and
refund payment. Remember to keep in touch and check the status of
your trip.
- If your trip has an alternative weather date, and bad weather
causes the trip to run on the alternate date, you won't be eligible
for
a refund if you don't participate in the trip on its alternate
date.
- If Maine Audubon is forced to cancel a weather date a full
refund
will be made.
Car Pooling
To make it easier for everyone who'd like to carpool to do so,
we'll provide a list of your fellow participants with their telephone
numbers.
If you don't want your telephone number included, let us know
ahead of time.
Gift Certificates
Maine Audubon is delighted to issue gift certificates for any of
our field trips or programs. Simply choose the trip you would
like to give and contact the registrar.
