Hog Island Audubon CenterHog Island Audubon Center, a property of National Audubon, has been a landmark of environmental education since 1936. Its residential programs have educated adults, children, and families about coastal wildlife in Maine and beyond. Sessions based on a 330-acre island in midcoast Maine's beautiful Muscongus Bay have been led by some of the nation's most-respected naturalists and environmental educators. Please note that Maine Audubon does not manage Hog Island Audubon Center. Please contact Project Puffin for information about the center or its programs. 2012 Hog Island ProgramsRegistration is now open! Learn more at projectpuffin.org.
Visiting Hog IslandThere are no public ferries to Hog Island. Visitors are allowed to beach small vessels on the island, but be advised that there are no public boat launches on the mainland nearby. Hog Island is part of the Todd Audubon Sanctuary, which includes a 30-acre parcel on the adjacent mainland in addition to Hog Island itself. The mainland portion includes several trails and a seasonal visitors' center. Learn more here. Hog Island is best enjoyed through annual summer ornithology camps for adults, teens, and families.
