Fields Pond Audubon Center Summer Day Camps

Summer 2011

Summer day camps at Fields Pond in Holden are back! Enjoy fun outdoor activities this summer in Holden - just ten minutes from Bangor.

With a 192-acre wildlife sanctuary of forest, wetland and meadow, green-design nature center and the pond for which Fields Pond Audubon Center is named- there’s discovery waiting every camper!

SUMMER CAMP

All days include stories, games and hands-on explorations of the natural world! Camp meets weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm. Cost per week: $200/member; $250/nonmember. Advance
registration is required.

July 11-15: children entering 1st and 2nd grade
Wild Things: Who left those tracks? What animal did that scat come from? Campers become detectives and spend the week scoping out the trails for clues left by local animals. We also learn how different animals find ways to sneak through the forest and hide from predators and prey!

July 18-22: children entering 3rd to 5th grade
Fields Pond Naturalist: Slugs, bugs, frogs and logs- join this exploration to find all of them and
learn how they depend on each other and the wild places at Fields Pond to survive.

August 1-5: children entering 1st to 6th grade
Nature, Up Close: Ever wonder what lives in a drop of water? What the world looks like to a caterpillar or what lives under a log? If the answer is yes to any of those questions, then this is the week of camp for you. Discover the little creatures and little worlds around us.

August 8-12- children entering 1st to 6th grade
EcoExplorers: Explore a different Fields Pond ecosystem everyday. We’ll hike, catch frogs, dragonflies and fish, search for salamanders and birds, climb rocks and learn more about the natural world and our place in it.
