Why Maine Audubon Day Camp?

Introducing children to the unplanned, unforgettable moments nature provides is why Maine Audubon has been running day camps for 40 years. Connecting with nature offers many physical and mental benefits for children—it gives them critical thinking skills, inspires creativity, and helps them fight childhood obesity, depression, and attention deficit disorder.

And it’s wicked fun, to boot!

The list of benefits may go on and on, but unfortunately kids today are missing out on them like never before. Offering day camps in winter, spring, and summer, along with educational programs and outreach throughout the year, Maine Audubon is working to buck that trend here in Maine … one exploration, one discovery, one moment at a time.

Continue on with our story to see some of those moments in action at our recent February camp, and to take a look at opportunities coming right up that you don’t want to miss.
