Morning, noon, and night . . . we connect people with nature. | 2007 Scholarship WinnersMy Bird Story- by Chelsey Staples
When we let our cat in, we noticed that she had something in her mouth. It looked like a dead bird. Suddenly the “dead bird” started to flap its wings. The bird was not dead. All of a sudden the cat let the bird go. It started to fly around the house. My Dad (who had been afraid of birds because he was attacked by Canada Geese when he was young) went out of the house. Even though he was afraid of the bird, the bird must have been terrified of us. At this time I asked my Mom what we should do. She said we must try to get the bird outside. With the bird flying and flapping around the house we needed to think quickly. Mom took a broom and coaxed the bird out the back door. With all the excitement over and the bird safely out the door and flying away, we headed for the bus. That was my most memorable bird experience, one that I do not want to have again.
